Banishing Jar Spell for Releasing Oppression
The banishment jar is used to banish negative influences—whether they be people, societal pressures, self-limiting beliefs, or oppressive forces in your life. The jar acts as a container to trap and remove these influences, allowing you to regain your personal power. Before you start, you can call in the deity of your choice.
This specific spell was designed for the Finding Your Inner Lilith Shadow Work Journey, however feel free to use it or work with any deity of choice.
Ingredients:
A small glass jar with a lid
Black salt (or regular salt if unavailable). Used for protection and banishing negativity.
Chili flakes - Adds intensity, speed and also great for breaking hexes and bonds.
Garlic - Wards off unwanted energy or people.
Vinegar or lemon juice - Deep spiritual cleansing, banishment and sours the connection.
A small piece of paper and a black pen
Sharp objects (like pins or nails) - For cutting ties or breaking the influence of the oppressive force.
A black candle: Represents protection, banishing, and empowerment.
Herbs for banishing (optional): Bay leaves, cloves, rosemary, or other herbs associated with removing negativity.
Instructions:
Cleanse your space according to your own personal practice.
Prepare the jar: Place the jar in front of you, holding it in your hands for a moment. Visualize it as a container for everything you want to banish from your life.
Write the intention: On the piece of paper, write down what you are banishing. This could be a specific person, societal pressures, or an oppressive force. You can also write emotions like self-doubt, fear, or oppression. Be as specific as you can. If you’re addressing societal influences, such as toxic authority figures, you can write down phrases like “Society’s expectations of who I should be,” or “Cultural conditioning that limits my freedom.”
Add the ingredients:
Begin by adding black salt to the jar, stating your intention: “With this salt, I banish all negativity and oppressive forces.”
Add chili flakes or black pepper, saying: “I add fire to this spell, speeding up the removal of what no longer serves me.”
Add the garlic, declaring: “With this, I gain the strength to protect myself from unwanted energies.”
Pour in a little vinegar or lemon juice, symbolizing the banishment, cleansing and souring or dissolving of the connection or influence: “I sour the ties of oppression and release myself from control.”
Drop the sharp objects (pins, nails) into the jar, stating: “I cut all ties with those who seek to control or limit me.”
Seal the jar: Once everything is in the jar, place the lid on it. As you close it, visualize the energy of what you’re banishing being trapped inside, unable to harm you anymore. Say something like:
“I seal away the power of those who seek to oppress me. I am free.”
Empower the jar with candle magic: Place the black candle on top of the jar. Light it and let it burn completely. As the candle burns, visualize the oppressive forces fading away and your personal power growing. Say:
“By the flame of this candle, I sever the chains of oppression and claim my power.”
Let the wax drip over the lid to fully seal the jar.
Dispose of the jar: After the candle has burned down, decide what to do with the jar based on your intentions:
Bury it: This is ideal if you want to permanently remove the negative force from your life.
Throw it away: If the oppression was fleeting or situational, you can throw it away with confidence that its influence has been broken.
Place it somewhere dark: You can store the jar in a dark, hidden place if you want to revisit the spell or continuously trap the oppressive influence.
Close the ritual: Once the jar is disposed of, cleanse your space again to remove any lingering energy from the banishment. Then, take a moment to reflect on how you feel. Embrace the newfound sense of freedom and autonomy.
Affirmation:
End the ritual by reciting a mantra or affirmation of empowerment. Example:
“I am free from the chains of oppression. I stand in my power, unbound and sovereign.”
